Upcoming Meetings & EventsMay 27 (Sunday) - Pentecost Sunday. Celebration of the birthday of the Church during both services. Cookies and drinks will be served between the services.
June 1 (Friday) - Peacemakers Concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
June 10 - 16 (Sunday - Saturday) - Youth Mission Trip to Joplin to help the recovery efforts.
June 17 (Sunday) - Father's Day - Special events planned! Ugly Tie Contest! More details to come!
June 23 (Saturday) - Faith in the Park at the Effingham City Park. Ice Cream Social at 4:00 p.m., Ironic Outcome to perform at 5:30 p.m., Neeley at 7:00 p.m., and Jay Montgomery message at 8:15 p.m.
June 24 (Sunday) - 9:00 a.m. Service will be held at the Riverfront Area.
June 30 (Saturday) - Dinner out with your Church family at San Jose Steak House in St. Joseph, MO.
July 14 (Saturday) - Church outing to the T-Bones Game, Tickets are $9.00 and need to be purchased by May 31. The church bus will be available.
Congregational Meeting Results
During Church services on April 22nd, there was a congregational meeting held at both services to vote on two issues: 1. Phase One of the Powerhouse Building Proposal and 2. The proposal to hire Travis McKee and Kassie Smith as Co-Associate Ministers to our church. The results of the votes are: Powerhouse Building Proposal: 127 - Yes, 39 - No, 1 - Abstain. Issue passes at 76% approval. Part Time Co-Associate Ministers Proposal: 144 - Yes, 25 - No, 3 - Abstain. Issue passes at 83% approval. Thank you to all the members that helped make this possible. The congregation has shown faith and vision by approving both of these issues. The process is not over, it is just beginning and what a wonderful future it will be! Ugly Tie Contest!
For Father's Day, June 17th this year, The Worship Ministry Team is sponsoring an ‘Ugly Tie Contest’! The entry deadline for this contest is Sunday, June 10th. All the ties that are nominated as 'ugly' on or before that date will be eligible for consideration. Voting will be done by a monetary donation on the following Sunday, Father's Day, June 17th. A table will be set up in the annex with the ‘offensive?’ ties displayed and a basket for each tie for their money votes. The tie that receives the most money will be crown as our 'Ugly Tie Contest Winner' for 2012.
All proceeds received for our 'Ugly Tie Contest' will go to the Vacation Bible School program. Be sure and include your name and phone number on a card with each tie when you enter them. Ties entered must be clean and will be returned to their rightful owners after the contest is over. Pastor Lee has agreed to wear the winning tie on the following Sunday, June 24th. He says he will do this as long as the tie is not "stainky"! Let's give Pastor Lee a tie he can wear proudly and one that will have us all proclaiming - 'Wow! That's one ugly tie!' 
Outreach Ministry is at work serving the Lord!
Kaitlynn Jacobson, daughter of John and Cindy Jacobson is working on the campus of Texas Tech University and is involved in the Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). The goal of RUF is to reach students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to disciple and equip those students to serve Him, not just on their campus, but in all of life. One of the recent mission trips Kaitlynn was involved in was to a community in Peru.
Kaitlynn works with our Outreach Ministry Team to further the word of the Lord and to encourage students to develop their fellowship with Jesus.
